Richard T. Caruso

Board Certified Ocularist

Rich is a board certified and board approved diplomat Ocularist through the American Society of Ocularists and a member of the International Academy of Ocularists.   He received his degree in Dental Laboratory Technology in 1986. He also completed the Maxillo-Facial Program at the Veteran’s Administration Hospital in Wilmington, Delaware in 1990. After completion of this program he was hired by the Denver Optic Company in Englewood, Colorado where he served his 5-year apprenticeship in ocular prosthetics.  After his apprenticeship, Rich purchased the satellite office in Salt Lake City, UT.  He has been the owner and president of the business since 1996.  He and his staff provide full-time ocular prostheses services for Utah and surrounding areas.

Travis Petersen

Apprentice

Travis Petersen joined Eye Prosthetics of Utah in  February of 2018. He is a member in training in the International Academy of Ocularists.  

Travis graduated from Utah Valley University with a BFA in Illustration. He then went on to receive his MFA in Painting from Laguna College of Art + Design. Once finished, he spent three years as an adjunct professor in the Art Department at Utah Valley University where he taught anatomy, portrait drawing, and introduction to drawing classes.

Travis currently resides in Utah County with his wife and four daughters.  He enjoys being outdoors as much as possible and spends his free time mountain biking, snowboarding, canyoneering, or rock climbing.
